Credit and Refund Policy

Course Withdraw and Refund
Students wishing to withdraw from a course may do so within 7 days of enrollment with a refund or transfer option. After withdrawing from a course, the student may apply the tuition credit towards another course. There is a $50 admiration fee for this service. The student may also request a refund for the tuition amount, minus $150 for administration and cancellation fees.

Course Transfer
Enrolled students who wish to switch to a different course have the option to do so within the first 7 days. Students can transfer from the originally enrolled course to another course that is currently being offered. A $50 administration fee is applied to process the transfer.

Course credits are granted to students who successfully complete a course and provide proof of the relevant prerequisites. Students may enrol in a course without immediate proof of prerequisites, but such proof must be submitted to Rosedale Academy before the release the student’s midterm report card. Students may also request an exemption from prerequisites under certain circumstances. For details on how to meet prerequisite requirements, please refer to the Prerequisite Course page. Please note that it is the student’s responsibility to inform Rosedale about their prerequisite completion.

Enrollment Policy
For individual student enrollment, Rosedale courses are to be completed within a 4 month period. Students wishing to take more time to finish a course may apply for a course extension. Courses can be extended by 1 or 2 extra months by paying a course extension fee.  If a course is expired for longer than 7 days, a $50 administration fee is required to reactivate the course.  Students may also postpone the course progress and put a course on hold.

Under all circumstances, students must complete courses within 12 months from the initial course start date.  Any students who does not completed a course within 12 months from the day of enrollment, will be unenrolled with no option for re-instatement.

School Policies
Students enrolling in Rosedale Academy assume an obligation to conduct themselves in a manner compatible with the school’s function as an educational institution. Students who fail to comply with the regulations of Rosedale Academy may be dismissed from the online school at any time with no reimbursement of fees.

Prerequisite Courses

What is a Prerequisite Course?

Some courses in Grades 10, 11, and 12 may have prerequisites for enrollment. A prerequisite course is required to make sure you have the knowledge and experience of the fundamentals to allow you to complete and succeed in a subsequent course.

A prerequisite is usually a course in the same subject but at a lower level – for example, ENG4U (English, Grade 12, University Preparation) requires the completion of ENG3U (English, Grade 11, University Preparation).  ENG3U is considered to be the prerequisite for ENG4U.

All prerequisite courses are identified in ministry curriculum policy documents and in our course descriptions. Prerequisites are mandatory for you to enroll in a course and successfully earn an OSSD credit.

Rosedale Prerequisite Policy

Students are responsible for obtaining the necessary prerequisites for a course. Students must submit proof of meeting the necessary requirements before starting a course.

How to Meet Prerequisite Requirements?

There are a number of easy ways to prove that you have completed your prerequisite requirements.

In general, we accept one of the following documents as proof:

  • Ontario Student Transcript
  • Report cards
  • PLAR assessment results
  • A statement from the principal that waives your prerequisite.

For students in Ontario:

  • Simply send us a copy of your Ontario Student Transcript or your report card with the prerequisite course on the record, and you are set!

For students living out of province or internationally:

  • Simply send us your official transcript from your current education program. We will evaluate your transcript to determine whether you meet the prerequisite requirement

Waiving Prerequisite

If you do not have one of the above documents but still believe that you have already acquired the knowledge of a prerequisite from previous learning or work experiences, please complete the  Request to Waive Prerequisite form.   The school will assess your circumstance on a case-by-case basis to determine whether the prerequisite can be waived.

For any additional questions on prerequisites, please feel free to contact us at 905-604-7533 or email info@rosedaleacademy.com and our program adviser will be happy to assist you.
