Excellent ESL instruction is the foundation of the Rosedale program and the success of our students. We follow the Ontario secondary school ESL curriculum to prepare our students for further study across other subjects in the Ontario curriculum or for academic study at post-secondary institutions around the world. Rosedale instruction relies on a blend of face-to-face instruction at our partner campuses and on a range of technologies, including our online conferencing platform. Our online course materials, including interactive tools and activities, are delivered on our customised Moodle learning management system.
Under the direction of the Principal of Rosedale Academy, the manager of the ESL program will:
Work collaboratively with the academic and business teams to ensure that the quality of ESL programs continue to be rigorous, innovative, engaging and are exemplary demonstrations of the Ontario curriculum
Advocate for Rosedale academic programs, education philosophy and curriculum delivery model to different audience groups and support sales and marketing to promote Rosedale’s ESL programs to overseas school partners
Be accountable for the overall quality and the practice development of the ESL program
Lead program evaluation and the continuous improvement cycle for the ESL program
Instructional excellence and Program Management
Ensure excellence in academic instruction and delivery, while meeting the expectations for academic delivery as stated in the Service Level Agreement
Lead Rosedale teachers and teachers in partner schools through the various stages of course delivery, as well as, student assessment/evaluation and reporting
Continually research and adopt best practices for instruction in the subject area of ESL
Develop and deliver training programs to Rosedale ESL teachers and ESL teachers from our partner schools
Teach ESL courses to students on the Rosedale video conferencing platform
Guide language proficiency placements for incoming students
Troubleshoot issues and concerns as they arise
Curriculum Development and Continuous Improvement
Assist in leading and collaborating with a group of freelance writers, editors and instructional designers to develop engaging and effective online learning resources to address the Ontario secondary ESL curriculum
Contribute directly to the resource development process as a writer
Take a lead role in the curriculum development and improvement process
Qualifications and Requirements:
A Master or Bachelor of education degree, Ontario Certified Teacher or equivalent preferred
Rich knowledge in ESL education, at least 8 years of ESL teaching experience and 4 years ESL teacher training or curriculum development experience
Knowledgeable about ESL teaching and learning theories and practices and are able to leverage them for greater student language attainment
Experienced in leveraging digital resources and technology for curriculum development and instruction
Experienced in teacher training and instructional excellence evaluation
Demonstrated leadership, management and teamwork skills
Passionate about delivering exceptional learner experiences in an international scope
Superior verbal and written communication skills
Thrives in working both independently and with a team to meet specific time driven deadlines

What is the English Global Gateway Program?
This innovative program engages English language learners with rich content through interactive lessons that are co-delivered by Rosedale Academy and overseas partner schools in a blended model. The program promotes student English acquisition in a communicative and authentic approach which transforms “learning English” to “Learning in English”. This program helps students to develop stronger academic skills as well as a deeper global awareness that are critical in their intellectual and personal development.

Under the direction of the ESL Program Manager of Rosedale Academy, you will:
Teach ESL courses that align with the Ontario Ministry of Education’s (MOE) secondary school ESL courses
Implement/deliver lesson plans that have been developed with detailed attention to learning goals, success criteria, differentiated learning activities and reflect expert thinking in online delivery
Teach to a small group of students on virtual video conferencing platform (Zoom)
Interact with students providing them with an engaging and interactive virtual learning experience
Assess student work (assessment of learning) in a consistent manner that reflects the principles of Growing Success, measures MOE expectations and utilizes the rubrics that exist to compliment the assessment/evaluation tools
Provide students with ongoing specific feedback that improves their academic performance
Report on student achievement as required by MOE
